Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS)
Advanced suspension technology that reduces the compromises sometimes necessary in an off-road vehicle, giving longer wheel articulation off-road and greater roll control on-road.
How does it work?
Conventional Stabiliser or Anti Roll bars work when the vehicle is on-road to reduce body roll when cornering, making it both safer and more comfortable. But because they limit suspension travel they restrict the vehicle’s ability to handle off-road bumps and hollows, since once a wheel is clear of the ground it no longer contributes traction or braking effort.
KDSS is an automatic, permanently active system that uses hydraulic linking of the suspension units to effectively disconnect the stabiliser / anti roll bars where additional travel is beneficial in keeping all four wheels firmly planted on the ground.
Electronically Modulated KDSS
The electronic system responds immediately when required providing superior traction and wheel articulation. On-road the stabilisers operate at their full potential, minimising body roll and enhancing steering response and the system also absorbs small imperfections in the road for a more comfortable ride.
Off-road the system virtually disconnects the front and rear stabilisers to maximise the movement of the wheels in relation to each other to ensure constant grip.
Customer benefits
- Greater off-road ability
- On-road safety is enhanced by heavier stabiliser / anti roll bars which improve handling at speed
- Occupant comfort is enhanced by keeping the vehicle more level both in on and off- road operation
- Superior ride at low speeds both on or off-road
