The all-new bZ4X, the first model in Toyota’s new bZ – beyond zero – family of zero-emission battery electric vehicles (BEVs), will arrive in Toyota dealerships nationwide from June 2022. Available in three distinct grades such as the Advance, Sport and Premiere Edition, prices will start from €43,402* or €444** per month on with Toyota Easy PCP with Toyota Financial Services Ireland, Toyota’s in-house financial services provider. The first BEV model to be developed by Toyota, a limited allocation of online reservations for the bZ4X will open from today at 10am via Toyota.ie.
Exclusive access was opened last week to pre-registered bZ4x handraisers which resulted in the first models being fully reserved without customers physically seeing or driving the new model. With demand expected to be high, interested parties are encouraged to visit Toyota.ie to place their reservation or contact their local dealer who can bring them through everything they need to know. Toyota expects that the 2022 bZ4X allocation will be pre-sold before its arrival in June and customers are encouraged to order online and talk to their dealer early to avoid disappointment.
Multi technology approach
The introduction of the bZ4X strengthens Toyota’s multi-technology approach to meet different mobility requirements by offering customers a full line-up of electrified vehicles, including hybrid, plug-in hybrid, battery-electric and hydrogen fuel cell-powered vehicles. Toyota aims to reduce CO2 with products that are easy to use and have strong customer appeal, and these technologies will together help deliver the goal of carbon neutrality.
Human – centric design
The bZ4X is a spacious, comfortable SUV, with a new all-wheel drive system that provides class-leading off-road handling and performance, with separate electric motors for each axle. The bZ4X has been designed with the driver in mind and incorporates the ‘hands on the wheel, eyes on the road’ principle with its human-centred cockpit. The seven-inch TFT instrument and information display sit directly in the driver’s forward eyeline, above the line of the steering wheel, so that metres can be viewed with minimal eye movement for an intuitive driving experience.
Electrification journey
Toyota has drawn on almost 25 years’ experience in electrified vehicle battery technology to secure world-leading quality, durability and reliability for the lithium-ion unit which powers the bZ4X. With a fully charged battery, the new model has an expected range of more than 450 km***. Even after 10 years of driving, the battery is targeted to still operate at 70% of its original performance.****
As Toyota’s first BEV model, it is also the first to use the company’s new BEV-dedicated platform. Based on eTNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) philosophy, it incorporates the battery unit as an integral part of the chassis, beneath the vehicle floor. This brings multiple benefits, including a low centre of gravity, excellent front/rear weight balance and high body rigidity, all of which make a positive contribution to safety, ride and handling.
Toyota continues to showcase its commitment to the move towards electrification with the arrival of the bZ4X. As Ireland’s best-selling car brand, Toyota has been at the forefront of this electrification journey for more than 20 years since its investment in hybrid technology. Since the launch of the first hybrid, Toyota has made significant technological advancements to the point where its latest self-charging hybrid cars now drive in zero-emissions mode up to 62% of the time on average.
Toyota believes that when a wide range of electrified options are made available to customers, they tend to choose these more environmentally friendly models as evidenced by the fact that 1 in 4 cars bought in 2022 to date has been a hybrid model. With significantly more low emission vehicles on Irish roads than any other car brand, Toyota continues to see hybrid technology as a key cornerstone in the move towards more sustainable motoring.
