In order to realise the Toyota Environment Challenge 2050, the 2030 mid-term targets were established based on the current situation of Toyota and societal trends.
2030 GLOBAL MID-TERM TARGETS
NEW VEHICLE ZERO CO2 EMISSIONS
Challenge 1 mid-term target.
By 2030 our goal is to annually sell more than 5.5 million electrified vehicles around the world, including more than 1 million zero-emission vehicles (battery electric and fuel cell electric vehicles). The estimate of global average CO2 emissions reduction in g-CO2/km from new vehicles will be 35% or more, depending on market conditions, compared to 2010 levels.
LIFE CYCLE ZERO CO2 EMISSIONS
Challenge 2 mid-term target
By 2030 our goal is to reduce CO2 emissions by 25 per cent or more over the entire vehicle life cycle, compared to 2013 levels.
PLANT ZERO CO2 EMISSIONS
Challenge 3 mid-term target
By 2030, our goal is to reduce CO2 emissions from global plants by 35 per cent compared to 2013 levels.
Minimizing and optimizing water usage
Challenge 4 mid-term target
By 2030 our goal is to implement measures at the four challenge-focused plants in North America, Asia and Southern Africa in order to reduce their water usage. From a water quality point of view, we will also make complete impact assessments at all of the 22 plants in North America, Asia and Europe where used water is discharged directly into rivers..
Establishing a recycling-based society and systems
Challenge 5 mid-term target
By 2030 our goal is to complete the establishment of battery collection and recycling systems globally, as well as the creation of 30 model facilities that match local facilities for appropriate treatment and recycling of end-of-life vehicles.
Establishing a future society in harmony with nature
Challenge 6 mid-term target
By 2030 our goal is to realise 19 “Plants in Harmony with Nature” (12 in Japan and 7 around the world), as well as implement harmony-with-nature activities in all regions where Toyota is based, in collaboration with local communities and companies. In addition, we will continue to contribute to biodiversity conservation activities in collaboration with NGOs, and we will expand initiatives both in-house and outside to foster environmentally conscious people who take responsibility for the future of the planet.
